It's common to have sleep trouble with fasting, but intermittent fasting should actually improve sleep. Here's why.

I get questions every now and then about intermittent fasting affecting people's sleep, and most people after just a few days find that their sleep is actually better. If you've been doing intermittent fasting for more than a week and are still having trouble with sleep, you should try shifting your eating window to earlier in the day (why is partly explained near the end of this video). However, (this may be unfortunate news...) it seems that coffee starts this eating window. 



As Dr. Rhonda Patrick says on the Joe Rogan show (https://youtu.be/uxM_CLsvieE?t=2h34m45s - Should start at time stamp 2:34:45) : Caffeine is a xenobiotic, it has to be metabolized. The first thing non-water thing you put into your body is going to start all these different clocks that affect metabolism, so after the clock starts, you want to consume everything in at least a 12 hour time frame (& earlier in the day) to reap the benefits of more optimized metabolism.

The Calorie Deception










Raia & David~Living the IF OMAD Lifestyle


We are both on living the IF OMAD lifestyle. Here is a collage of our progress since Raia began on October 19th, 2017. In the beginning, we were skeptical about the health concerns of fasting as it conflicted with our training around nutrition, weight gains, losses, fat burning and blood sugar


Once I started this regime, it did not take long for me to become was an enthusiastic supporter of this way of life. I fasted right up to and after major surgery for the right hip, having her leg lengthened 2 inches and a pelvic alignment. At that time we had both put on weight due to the inactivity with the pain and limitation of her bone and bone degeneration.

My body gained energy, strength, changes in body composition. On the IF OMAD regime, I  went from 135 pounds down to my current base w= weight 97-99 pounds.

A month ago my hubs David Malloy chose to also jump on the Delay Don't Deny lifestyle and in one month he almost reached his base
weight and lost 20 pounds. Now we are both are spreading Gin Calhoun Stephens life-changing methods of clean fasting in our personal and professional lives.

When I first started doing intermittent fasting, handling the hunger was quite difficult. I tried several things to try and make myself less hungry without breaking the fast, but what was most helpful was knowing that it would go away on its own, and why this was the case. So, I hope that this video helps those of you trying out prolonged or intermittent fasting - hunger is pretty much inescapable, there is going to be some level of discomfort when trying out fasting, but it's very encouraging to know that things will change and hunger will naturally go away.

Fasting is actually far more beneficial than just stimulating autophagy. It does two good things. By stimulating autophagy, we are clearing out all our old, junky proteins and cellular parts. At the same time, fasting also stimulates growth hormone, which tells our body to start producing some new snazzy parts for the body. We are really giving our bodies the complete renovation.

Dr. Jason Fung - 'A New Paradigm of Insulin Resistance'







Dr. Jason Fung completed medical school and internal medicine at the University of Toronto before finishing his nephrology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles at the Cedars-Sinai hospital.



He now has a practice in Ontario, Canada where he uses his Intensive Dietary Management program to help all sorts of patients, but especially those suffering from the two big epidemics of modern times: obesity and Type 2 diabetes.



Dr. Fung uses innovative solutions to these problems, realising that conventional treatments are not that effective in helping people.

Ivor Cummins - 'An Engineering View of Modern Chronic Disease Prevention'







Ivor Cummins BE(Chem) CEng MIEI PMP® completed a Chemical Engineering degree at UCD in 1990. He has since spent over 25 years in corporate technical leadership and management positions, and was shortlisted in 2015 as one of the top 6 of 500 applicants for “Irish Chartered Engineer of the Year”. Ivor’s focus and specialty is leading teams in complex problem-solving scenarios. He has often led worldwide teams with over 60-70 engineers working on major technical issues; the largest of these involved product issues where hundreds of millions of dollars were in the balance.



Several years ago, Ivor encountered a complex technical challenge in his personal life. Receiving poor blood test results, he was unable to get solutions via the doctors consulted. He thus embarked on an intense period of biochemical research into the science of human metabolism. Within eight weeks he had resolved and optimised all of his blood test metrics. Also, he had shed over 15Kg of body fat with relative ease.



In the following years he continued his research on the many “root causes” of modern disease, from “cholesterol” through to insulin resistance. He has become a professional speaker of note, giving many public lectures and chairing interviews with worldwide health experts. Most notably he was invited by the President of the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) to give a keynote talk on heart disease root causes, at their annual conference in London last October.

IGlad I Do Not Look Like What I Have Been Through





















I decided to share this with others. As I go back over images of the pre-op preparation, how I felt, what I struggled with, then seeing the surgery photos in the aftermath of having my hip sliced open, split to the bone while they do carpentry on the bone on bone degenerate hip, put the Rejuv one in, use a hammer to bang the bionic in place.

Then comes the recovery, gaining twenty pounds of water weight after being hooked up to saline IV for four days. Oh yeah, then coming home with the swelling continuing for two weeks. So much so my body blistered, David and I could not sleep more than 2 hours for three weeks as I peed out the water weight. T

Yes, they were rough times, yet we made it through and the crisis of yesterday seems funny in the aftermath of the chaos. When I sayw this graphic I laffed out loud, said a big "YEAH!"

I share with others to affirm it is not what happens to us that defines who we become..or the outcome. It is what we decide to do about making difficult transitions into victories of strength as we do it

a dream appeared, a thought, an idea
 a cosmic creative moment in the mind
Comes one moment with instantaneous spark of inspiration
Ah Ha! - an exhalation, a breath, an expression
Life, light, energy
something and nothing
in and out
an incredible idea
a word spoken, or not
something seen, or not
And the scars are turned into stars
That are not the lodestar for my new lease on life.
